There are about a dozen translations of the Bible in Tagalog, the national language of the Philippines. However, those translations are generally intended for people who have at least a high school education. There are many adults who speak Tagalog as their second or third language, and many of them don't read Tagalog at a high school level. There are also millions of children who can't easily understand any of the existing Bibles. So ATW is producing translations of several biblical books that are in contemporary, easy to understand Tagalog. But our goal is not to produce another Tagalog translation of the Bible. Instead our goal is to translate books of the Bible for the languages in the Philippines that don't yet have the Bible, and we'll do that by modifying our computational Tagalog lexicon and grammar to accommodate those other languages.
